Hello Jim,

I saw a sub receiver shipping in Jan 2016 in the webpage. What is this sub RX about? Is there more details some where in the webpage?

Hi Johnny,

When I was working on the revC board, which is the next one going to production, I realize that after the LNA there an attenuator because the LNA has way too much gain. I decided to put it inthe simulator ans see if I could make a resistive splitter that has the same attenuation and I could. So on the rev C board there are 2 contacts that can be used as a RX OUT port that can feed a second RS-UV3 in a RX only mode. It could be used for scanning, sweeping or dual RX while listening on the main RX and the TX on the main board could be logically attached to either receiver.

I think that it's sort of a waste to buy transceiver if all you want to use is the receiver. Since the RX output is after the filter and LNA it can directly feed the RDA1846S and doesn't require any of the expensive RF switching/flitering that's on the transceiver. Then I put a tap in the 26MHz TCXO, which is another very expensive part. I don't need a second battery charger, maybe not even the 8.5V regulator. So I can add another RX with a PIC, RDA-1846S, and audio amp. It'll be much smaller than the RSUV3 so it can be mounted on stand-offs to the mounting holes or slide in the next groove up in the extrusion.

Anyway I'm not thinking about it too much until I get the amp ready...

Thanks Jim. Yes, please place the priority on the amplifier. In order to maintain good marketability, please do consider the forthcoming linear will also work with other radios such Elecraft KX3 with 2m module.
