Sorry but I just got one of these boards with an enclosure and the TTL serial board. Hate to sound dumb but am not able to figure out how to get this little TTL board on to the UV3 and still use the enclosure.

thanks

I guess the idea behind the serial board was to program the radio then put it in the enclosure. But for applications where you want the radio in the enclosure and you want to control it the DB9 connector is your best bet.

You can wire RXD, TXD and Ground to pind 7, 8 and 9 (respectively) and you are good to go.

If you want a neater solution that the USB Dongle board you can get a USB to TTL serial cable and wire it directly to the BD9, put a hood on it and you have a very professional looking setup.

Here is one for $10

You can find them for less than $4 but the shipping time will be much longer

For the DB9 you need a female ($0.49)

And a hood ($0.39)

It's not the standard RS-232. The DB9 has TTL serial, RX and TX Audio, COR and PTT.
