Hi All,

I'm working on my Hardrock 50 and am finding instructions regarding an FCC Version of the amplifier. I'm not familiar with what FCC Version refers to. I'm a VE3 and it will be used in VE-land. Am I building an FCC Version or something else?

Any assistance would be gratefully accepted.

You can ignore the 'FCC version' comments.

If you were building the amplifier to sell to someone in the US, then you would not ignore the comments.

Many thanks!

Reading it a second (and third) time it looks to me like if you want to build the amp and retail it into the U.S. market then you leave out the components that cover 12, 10 and 6m, but you can include them if you're building it for yourself.

Thanks again and 73,

Yes for 'normal' builds, which means that you plan on using the amp in your home station or if you are building the amp for someone who will, you can completely disregard the info about the FCC version. The FCC version would only be required if you intended to sell more than one assembled amplifier per year in the US market. In that case, the amp must not have more than 0 dB gain in the 26-28 MHz band, so the filters must be modified to be legal.

As far as I know no one, besides me, has ever built one.
