Hi Guys,

What's up with the long delivery time on the ATU's? I guess the HR-50's are in the same boat. I was thinking about getting the ATU, but noticed the 1 to 2 month tag and wondered what the deal is?

I was kind of holding off waiting for the optoisolator USB mod. I don't mind taking the HR-50 down, but I'd like to only do so once if possible.

Thanks for any info you can share.

My HR-50 has been a solid piece of gear. Just looking to make it all it can be.

Hi MJ,

The ATU has recently under gone a design change to replace the through-hole PIC and relay drivers with their SMT counterparts. The through-hole parts are getting harder to find, are expensive to kit and are a source for error in the build process. The schematic diagram has remained unchanged since the pinouts for the SMT devices are the same as the through-hole variants.

Just this week I built two copies of the new design and they work perfectly but they uncovered a bug in the firmware that effects the wattmeter mode and the TX display in 'QRP' mode. I've released new FW that corrects the issue so if anyone is having strange characters or readings on the wattmeter or QRP mode head over here:

https://sites.google.com/site/hr50atu/

and get the scoop on the new FW.

I also had to change the text, drawings and photo in the assembly manual for the new units. Fortunately we've released the production run and the new kits should be available in 4-6 weeks barring parts supply issues.

If anyone has an urgent need for an ATU, I'll be happy to lend you one of the production samples until the new kits are ready. Contact me off-line at jim (at) hobbyPCB (dot) com

Can't seem to find the new antenna tuner software file on the files page. Any clues?

Hi Lee,

It's called HR50 AUTOTUNER 1-4.HEX. It's the 4th file down on the files page.

Jim.
